Maktau Mountain Lodge is a new and small tourist lodge of 16 rooms in Rombo District close to the Kenyan border, approximately 16Kms from the border town of Tarakea in Tanzania. For a detailed map we suggest using the Google Maps link.

The lodge is two and a half hours and one and a half hours by car from Arusha and Moshi respectively. Interesting land marks of attraction are especially the border concrete pillars demacating the alignment made in the 1800s to place mount Kilimanjaro on the Tanganyika (then) side.

It is located in a quiet and peaceful place next to the Cornel Ngaleku Children Centre (see

The lodge exists solely for the purpose of charity to support orphans and vulnerable children cared for at the Centre. All profits from the operation of the lodge will be used to provide the essential needs of the children.

If you have a soft spot for children your heart will be warmed by stepping next door to the Centre.

You are most welcome to spend time with the children when you are at the lodge.
